Prayer in worship is our response to God. The Lord leads and prompts by His Spirit to the Word and to the Sacrament preached. Our worship this morning includes both Word and Sacrament at the Lord’s table. Join with me in these prayers of invocation, confession and pastoral care.
Invocation Ps 141
Lord our God, Lord of Sabbath Rest.
You Lord have called us to gather today in y
our presence.
Lord, we call upon You; Lord hear our voice! Give ear to our words when we call to You!
2 May our prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of our hands as the evening offering.
3 Set a guard, O Lord, over our mouths; Keep watch over the door of our lips.
4 Safeguard our my hearts against any evil thing
8 Set our eyes toward You, O God, our Lord; In You we take refuge; do not leave us defenseless.
9 Keep us from the jaws of the trap which the wicked have set for us,
even our own distractions and purposes we bring today
Indeed keep us from the snares of those who do iniquity including our own corruption and want
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While we pass by safely and are preserved in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In Your Holy Name we draw near to you and in your presence may we worship You in Spirit and Truth.
In Jesus our advocate’s name.

Prayer of Confession Ps 130
Lord God our Redeemer. We bow before You in your words, by Your Spirit through Your Son.
Out of the depths we cry to You, O Lord.
Lord, hear our voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the words of our repentance.
If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared, honored and glorified.
We wait for You Lord, our souls wait, And in Your Word, your very Son, do we hope and trust
Our souls wait for You Lord, indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning;
We, Your people, hope in You Lord; For with You there is lovingkindness, And with You is abundant redemption.
You have redeemed all your people from all our iniquities through Jesus Christ our Lord.
In whose name we pray, Amen.
Pastoral Prayer Philippians 1:3-11
God of all Creation and Redemption, Indeed, Lord of all Heaven and Earth.
Holy is Your name and blessed are we who claim you as our Hope and deliverance, for you have laid hold of us.
We thank You Lord in all our remembrance of you mighty works by offering prayer to You our Savior.
Our joy is made full in every prayer, we draw near to you to seek your favor, and know your kindness.
How blessed are we in view of our participation in the gospel
from the first day, You caused us to rise from death unto life,
To this very day, we are confident of this very thing, that You who began a good work in us and will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
It is only right for us to feel, to know, to rest, in this certainty, because we have You in our hearts, in our minds, indeed you have our souls in your hand.
In joy and in sorrow, in freedom and in bondage we can rest assured that we whom you have redeemed are all partakers of Your grace through Jesus Christ our brother and friend.
Lord You are our witness, our only comfort… Our hope IS the affection of Christ Jesus for us… we who are His inheritance and bride.
Lord our prayers are manifold… but above all is our desire that our love for your church may abound more and more in real knowledge and full discernment.
Grant to us that we may approve the things that are excellent, give us sincerity and blamelessness until the day of Christ return
Lord fill us with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to Your glory and Your praise alone.
Lord… of the multitude of prayers and concerns we have, we acknowledge that every one of them has You and Your grace as its solution. Indeed Christ Jesus is quite literally the beginning and end of all things.
For family, friends, acquaintances that are lost, wandering, morally bankrupt and hurting, Lord our prayer to you is for your kindness and redeeming love. Do in them what only your enlivening Spirit can do in a darkened and corrupt soul. Bring it to life that they may see, hear and taste how good you are to your people.
God of creation, In our individual hurdles and obstacles, worthy and important endeavors, Lord, we seek your wisdom. Help our minds think your thoughts after you. Enliven our darkened minds by your Word. May our wills be in submission to your purposes, Your decrees and Your leading in and through circumstances and decisions outside of our control. May we find rest in your good counsel and find refreshment in your Spirit’s promptings.
Lord of Redemption, for this and all your body of believers we seek your compassionate hand to be upon us. Guide us in resting in your sovereign designs for us amidst difficulties, trials and tribulations of all kinds. Capture our hearts and minds in Your awesome power to overcome all the obstacles we face. Form us, re-create us and shape us by your grace.
King of Kings and Lord of every Lord, for our country …the state of division we are currently under, we pray your ultimate purpose will be realized. Amidst turmoil on all fronts may we take refuge in the fact that we are citizens of an unshakeable kingdom. A kingdom with its goal and purpose in the unity of our Savior Jesus Christ. Indeed your Kingdom is not divided for you, our Savior, is One, Holy and Righteous Sovereign. Where there is division in this world we can cling to the unity under which we have been re-created by your Spirit in the merits and righteousness of Christ.
God of all Wonder: for those matters, unspoken, for which words fail to adequately capture or for which the problems are too deep and painful to articulate, we seek your gentle presence. We need your closeness and compassionate love to wrap us in your goodness. Lord we seek your face through the raw emotions we have and rely on the intercession of your Spirit who brings our jumbled thoughts, our confusion and brokenness to you in words made clear in ways that we have yet to understand.
Lord cause our song to be…
To You our God we are reconciled; Your pard’ning voice we hear;
You own me for Your child; I can no longer fear;
With confidence I now draw nigh,
Indeed with confidence I now draw nigh,
And, “Father, …Abba, ….Father, ” we do cry, by your Spirits help we do come
Lord, we take great comfort that we as helpless children, not knowing what is best, come to you our good and kind Father who knows best and does for us what we ourselves cannot claim,… nor grasp ahold of, … or request.
Lord in all these things we thank you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and we use your words which you taught us to pray.
Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
