God didn’t just give Israel a law. He gave them a year.
The seven feasts of Leviticus 23 are divine appointments (moedim — the same word as “Tent of Meeting”). To miss the feast was to miss the meeting.
The feasts are the covenant set to music — the same redemptive story of Creation, Fracture, and Restoration that runs through the whole Bible, now rehearsed annually in the body, so the people would know it in their bones before they understood it in their minds.

Passover
14 Nisan • March/April
What It Was: Lamb selected on 10 Nisan, killed at twilight, blood on doorposts, eaten in haste.
Theological Meaning: Creation (unblemished lamb) • Fracture (cost of blood) • Restoration (blood applied).
Christ Connection: Jesus died on Passover. “Christ, our Passover lamb” (1 Cor 5:7).
Unleavened Bread
15–21 Nisan • March/April
What It Was: All leaven removed. 7 days of unleavened bread.
Theological Meaning: Purgation. Freedom given must become freedom inhabited.
Christ Connection: Christ’s sinless burial. “Purge out the old leaven…” (1 Cor 5:7–8).
Firstfruits
Day after Sabbath in Nisan • March/April
What It Was: First sheaf of barley waved before the Lord.
Theological Meaning: Pledge of the full harvest.
Christ Connection: Jesus rose on this exact day. “Christ, the firstfruits…” (1 Cor 15:20).
Pentecost
50 days after Firstfruits • May/June
What It Was: Two leavened loaves waved. Early harvest complete.
Theological Meaning: The hinge. Jew + Gentile. Ordinary life offered to God.
Christ Connection: Holy Spirit poured out (Acts 2). Law on stone → Spirit on hearts.
Trumpets
1 Tishri • Sept/Oct
Shofar blasts. Announcement of the King’s return.
Day of Atonement
10 Tishri • Sept/Oct
Two goats. High Priest enters Most Holy Place. Once-for-all atonement.
Tabernacles
15–22 Tishri • Sept/Oct
Live in booths. Greatest joy. God dwells with His people.
Precision: God fulfilled the spring feasts on their exact calendar days. We have every reason to expect the fall feasts to be fulfilled with the same precision.
Location: The feasts tell you where you are in history. Spring feasts — accomplished. Summer — we are here. Fall feasts — still arriving. You are not waiting without a map.
Formation: The feasts put the pattern in the body — tasted, felt, smelled — so the body knows the covenant before the mind articulates it. The Lord’s Supper carries this forward: not “understand this” but “do this.”
